I was on a mission to read 10 books in 2019 just like I did in 2018
You will notice that a majority of the books I read consisted of 18th Century Historical Fiction and home/lifestyle
I was quite interested in minimalist living in 2019. I don’t by any means think I could be a minimalist but I do believe in decluttering. I like to take elements of a movement like minimalism and apply it to my life.
Vegetable Gardening the Colonial Williamsburg Way
In the beginning of 2019, I was all excited to get my hands in the dirty in the garden and start our first garden in five years. I was intrigued by everything historical and organic so this was a helpful book to read. Now I want glass cloches for my plants over the winter.
Yep, the first one. Since I watched all seasons of Outlander, I figured I could get by without reading the first two books for awhile. I listened to this on audio and I’m glad I did. There were several parts that were not included in the show for time constraints and adaptation ability as well.
This was helpful as we were planning on painting our rooms after we bought our house. I quieted every room during this process and it helped tremendously. I recommend checking out this book if you are looking for a change in your living areas.
This book is so good and filled my Scotland and 18th century love cup. This is where I fell in love with Laura Frantz’s writing and books. It takes place in Scotland and North Carolina and a little bit of Williamsburg during the 18th century.
I’ve always been intrigued by the Scandinavian countries. This was a good quick read.
This book was good read as we were painting and changing the look of our home as well. It helps you define your decorating style and of course any book by Joanna Gaines is a good one.
Love’s Reckoning, Love’s Awakening and Love’s Fortune
This is where I dove in wholeheartedly, down the rabbit hole of Laura Frantz’s books and series’. This is her only series to date and covers grandmother, aunt and niece and granddaughter. I fell in love with the Ballantyne family. This book and series takes place in my home state of Pennsylvania so I loved that aspect.
The Lacemaker and The Mistress of Tall Acre
These both take place in the colonial times and occur in parts in Williamsburg and out skirt areas. They are love stories and are just wonderful.
This book is helpful in showing you how to live a purposeful life and how circumstances are used to help guide us. It teaches you how to not compare yourself to others and live the life you are meant to live.
This book shows you how to live an uncluttered life in all areas of your life.
And of course, I closed the year with hygge as I posted about here on the blog. The holiday and winter time is especially a big hygge time. This book goes into more detail of the subject. It is really quiet interesting.
This book is written by instagrammer and blogger Liz Marie Galvan. I literally just finished this book yesterday.
This book goes into great detail (100 to be exact) of how to make your home cozy. It is packed with great information on the subject of coziness in your home.
