15 Things You Must Do At Least Once On the Outer Banks

My family has been vacationing on the Outer Banks for 27 years. Now, all of those haven’t been consecutively. Would I love to visit every year? Absolutely! It is truly my happy place but it takes money.  If you would like to read my Q&A post about the Outer Banks check it out here. If you would like to see what a typical week for us on vacation is like click here.

Over those 20 some years,  we’ve pretty much done it all, sometimes multiple  times over.

So what are the quintessential Outer Banks vacation things to do? Let’s get started….

Jockey’s Ridge

Manteo and walk along the waterfront

Lost Colony Show and visit Fort Raleigh

Jet ski on the Sound

4×4 and wild horses in Carova

Duck Donuts- because Outer Banks is where it started

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse- or all the lighthouses for that matter

Take a ferry to Ocracoke

Visit Wright Brothers Memorial

Ride your bike

Coffee on the top deck of the beach house- coffee just tastes different at the beach

Visit the Aquarium on Roanoke Island

Search for seaglass

Visit the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum

Shop at Duck Village

So there you have it, my list of 15 things to be sure and do when you visit the Outer Banks. But rest assured, you probably can’t do them all in one vacation because it would be pretty exhausting and not a relaxing vacation!

Did I miss any that you would include on a list of 15? Let me know in the comments!

Happy traveling,

Tips For A Trip To Lake Erie PA

Hey there! I’m so glad you stopped by my blog!

I’m a wife to a realtor and a momma to 2 energetic boys, living in a bi-level home (some people call it a split level) and fixing it up to suit us. I love a good DIY and being creative. I am passionate about history and  visiting historical places like it’s my job- particularly Colonial time period. I love finding antiques/vintage and rustic items to add to my home decor, vacationing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and fantasizing about trips to Scotland. Read more

On this blog I share a lot of those things and more, so comment, share, subscribe and come along for the ride!
