I don’t know about you but my kids end up with tons of candy at Easter. They get candy from grandparents and even great grandparents. I decided when my oldest was a toddler to not buy candy for his Easter basket. But sometimes coming up with ideas year to year can be difficult.
For my boys, I like to include- bubbles (however, I think we are stocked up on those), a book, a snack (again non candy- like- goldfish, puffs, fruit snacks, etc.) new Spring pajamas, a special toy.
Last year, I got my oldest two pairs of new pajamas, a toy plane for in the pool, a Melissa and Doug Water Wow book for in the van and yes one, ONE peanut butter egg. For my then two year old, I got him similar- a Water Wow book, toy plane, a peanut butter egg (luckily, no allergies here) and some much needed socks. I also got them a bubble machine– this saves all the blowing bubbles you would have to do all Spring and Summer long.
This year, we are starting a garden and I thought it would be a brilliant way to get them outside and learning. I got them a book about a garden and birds- and Joanna Gaines just recently released her new book ‘We Are The Gardeners’. I plan to add that to the loot too. Target has a great set of kids gardening tools in the Dollar Spot, if you can get your hands on them. Last month, we found gardening gloves that was also found in the Dollar Spot, so that would be a great idea.
My youngest doesn’t have a butterfly/bug net, so I was lucky to find one in the Dollar Spot again this year for him. I also added dinosaur bandaids, because #boymom. I plan to add new Spring pajamas as per usual. My now three year old, would like a Transformer since big brother has one. I plan to add one to his basket as well.
Here are some great ideas for Non Candy Easter Baskets:
Pajamas- either short sleeve tops with pants or shorts. Carter’s runs great deals around this time usually around $6 a set. I love to get my boys matching pajamas.
Pack of socks
Pair of sandals- flip flops, slip on shoes, crocs, jelly shoes for girls, or a nice dressy pair of sandals
Pool toys
Beach towel
Coloring book or activity book
Markers, crayons, paints or twistable Crayola colored pencils
Little purse for your little girl
Hat- Easter hat for the girls, sunhat (for the pool or beach) or a ball cap
Rash guard/swim shirt and trunks
Sidewalk chalk- they even have these at the Dollar Tree
Playdough
Bib for the little ones- we love these Bumkins Toddler bibs (they make ones for the little ones as well) and they are totally washable!
Sippy cup- we love these stainless steel Munchkin 360 cups
Kids Thermos or Rtic water bottles (these are now my favorite, each family member has one) for summer time activities
Small toy- Hotwheels/Matchbox, Transformer or other figurine, Barbie doll (or clothing)
So there you go, I hope I was able to get your creative juices flowing with ideas for your kids.
I don’t believe you have to go nuts and have a big full basket. Just a basket with a few items is plenty.
I hope you and your family have an enjoyable and blessed Easter holiday,
