Happy October and Happy Fall!!!
Here is a fun, festive and easy craft for you and your kids to enjoy!
I was perusing Pinterest and happened to see these leaf animals that were super cute. I decided my youngest and I needed to do this fun Fall project.
We went out on a late Sunday afternoon a week ago looking for pretty leaves for our craft. We went to a local Chautaqua that I love. It is a very quaint little village. It was a bit difficult in our neck of the woods but we managed to find a medium size maple leaf for a fox. some elongated oval ones for fish and various ones for an owl.
We put our craft together the next evening. That is one tip I will definitely give you. Do not wait until the next day to assemble. They will start to dry out and could start to crumble as you are gluing them to the paper.
We used a good old Elmer’s school glue stick, white painting paper from a pad we bought at Target, some construction paper for eyes, ears, etc. I also used my laminator to laminate for displaying and preserving.
I glued the leaves to the paper where he wanted them to go (if you didn’t wait long like I did, you can have them do it with out ripping the leaf) and then clued the eye on. This is a great chance to allow young kids practice their cutting and gluing skills. I used black construction paper for the eyes, ears and nose and filled in an eyeball with a chalk marker.
I also added their name and the age they are and hung them up.
So easy!
Let me know if you try this with your kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews or any other kids you like 🙂
Have a great week!
