Little Free Library

Recently, I discovered these little structures sitting on posts in parks and near schools. I decided to investigate. Low and behold, they are free little libraries. Since then I discovered at least one at the beach. How cool!

How does it work exactly? Well, you can take a book, leave a book or borrow a book. It is totally on the honor system. It is designed for children’s books but you can totally feel free to leave an adult fiction book. I have seen cds and dvds available. It is so fun to see what you will find. I love yard sales for that reason and now this is the new thing for me.

I plan on donating our outgrown books to our local Little Free Libraries. What a great way to pass along your books!

If you go on Little Free Libary click on ‘map’ and locate your local libraries by the search options available. It is so fun to find local ones. They are usually at parks and schools but can be found in neighborhoods.

I am even knocking the idea around of starting one in our town. There are none currently available. I plan on checking with our township to get approval and go from there. If we would plan on moving to a development it would even be easier just to make on and place it in my yard!

Have you checked the Little Free Libraries out in your area? Do you currently steward one? Have you donated your outgrown books to one? Let me know in the comments! What a great discovery!

Have a great week!

Hey there! I’m so glad you stopped by my blog!

I’m a wife to a realtor and a momma to 2 energetic boys, living in a bi-level home (some people call it a split level) and fixing it up to suit us. I love a good DIY and being creative. I am passionate about history and  visiting historical places like it’s my job- particularly Colonial time period. I love finding antiques/vintage and rustic items to add to my home decor, vacationing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and fantasizing about trips to Scotland. Read more

On this blog I share a lot of those things and more, so comment, share, subscribe and come along for the ride!
