My Top 12 Favorite Podcasts

Podcasts have been around for several years now, however they are still pretty popular. Think of them as talk radio shows but better! My job allows me to listen to them with my iPad and earbuds, so I consume a lot of them in one day. I always need to have something in my ears to keep me focused and drown out the office noise. I have been listening to them for about 6 years now.

Are you interested in getting started listening to podcasts or just need some new ideas.

Here are twelve of my favorite or regularly listened to podcasts:H

Stuff You Should Know– I believe this is the first podcast I started listening to. There is a whole network of Stuff podcasts. Josh and Chuck talk about a new topic every week after they have researched the heck out of it. They talk about everything from history to modern day topics and how they work.

Stuff You Missed in History Class– From the same network as Stuff You Should Know, Tracy and Holly talk about anyone or any event from history. Recently, they talked about Levi Strauss, yep, the jeans guy and the Niagara Falls daredevils, etc.

Focus on the Family Parenting– this goes without saying. They give godly parenting advice and usually are a 3- 4 parts. There is always a guest author or psychologist on covering each topic with the hosts. Their advice guides you along the parenting road and assures you that you are doing the right thing. The show hosts are real and honest. Bonus, it is easy to consume one show at a time since they are only about 9 minutes at a pop.

RISE and RISE together– Rachel Hollis’s podcasts. Rise is a great accompaniment to Girl, Wash Your Face. Rise together covers topics and advice for a husband and wife.

The Popcast– Knox and Jamie make me laugh. The topics they cover are about pop culture- movies, music, tv shows. The latest one was on ‘The No’s of the Movie Theater. So funny!

Lore and Cabinet of Curiosities– Both hosted by Aaron Mahnke. On Lore, Aaron shares historical tales that have been passed down and are unusual. This may be a bit too dark for some people but those who like mysteries may find this one intriguing. Cabinet of Curiosities are short stories of you guessed it, curiosities in history. A lot of them are the back stories of well known figures in history.

Don’t Keep Your Day Job- Cathy Heller interviews inspiring people who have created lives that they love. Enough said.

This is Us Too– Blake and Mary Larsen take a deep dive into each episode of ‘This is Us’. Their podcast episodes make me notice things in the episodes that I missed or never thought about. It is fun to listen to a husband and wife talk about each episode.

Outlander Cast– When I first started watching ‘Outlander’, I went looking to see if their were any podcasts about it. This is another podcast by Mary and Blake Larsen. Mary has read all the books and Blake is a show watcher however he is starting to read the first book ‘Outander’.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE their deep dives into each episode. It has made me want to rewatch the series to see things that they picked up on but I did not in the first watch. A friend of mine that I introduced to the podcast has also said this.

The Outlander Podcast- This Outlander Podcast is created by two sisters, Ginger and Summer. Some of the things they say crack me up and keep me entertained. These two have read all the books. In season, they do episode recaps. During Droughtlander, they do a read along and discussions of the book that encompasses the next season! This is a great way to fill up some of your time during Droughtlander.

Do you have favorite podcasts that I have not mentioned? Let me know down in the comments! Also, if you have not already, please subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss any of my posts, it is greatly appreciated!

Hey there! I’m so glad you stopped by my blog!

I’m a wife to a realtor and a momma to 2 energetic boys, living in a bi-level home (some people call it a split level) and fixing it up to suit us. I love a good DIY and being creative. I am passionate about history and  visiting historical places like it’s my job- particularly Colonial time period. I love finding antiques/vintage and rustic items to add to my home decor, vacationing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and fantasizing about trips to Scotland. Read more

On this blog I share a lot of those things and more, so comment, share, subscribe and come along for the ride!
