I recently downloaded the Poshmark app after hearing about it on YouTube and from a coworker. Since I have been working out and losing inches/basically my body has been changing proportion (I have gone down two sizes), I went through my whole summer wardrobe and got rid of a bunch of tops and some capris. I decided since most of them were gently worn, I would post them on Poshmark.
My Poshmark Experience
I took pictures of some items and posted them for sale. After a couple of weeks, I got my first sale, an Ann Taylor sleeveless blouse! Awesome! Then a few weeks later, I sold Joe’s Nautica watch that had been sitting in his drawer (he mainly uses his phone as a watch now).
My first purchase were some much needed black flats. I have been hearing about the Sam Edelman brand (sold at Nordstrom and retail for $100 or more) all over Instagram and YouTube from fashion bloggers. So I searched for those. I scored a pair for $30! I decided to purchase them when I received a notification that the seller was discounting them for a few hours (more on that later). So I hopped on that deal and got them.
In the past week I ‘scored’ a pair of Frye riding boots. These boots retail at Nordstrom for about $398! They were price dropped to $55 for closet clean out! I offered $50 and got them! However, once they arrived and I tried them on, they didn’t fit! Wah-Wah. They were a size 9 which I am- anywhere from 9-10 in shoes, but I didn’t account for the fact that there was no zipper! So I did what they call ‘reposhed’ them. I relisted them and got what I paid for! Now the search for new riding boots starts again but I might hold off until the Fall.
My Poshmark Sales
This past week I’ve sold three items! The sales just kept rolling in! It was great!
What I decided to do is search for ‘investment pieces’. This means clothing items and brands that I have been needing to purchase but that are normally on the pricier side, pieces that are made well and will last.
I have started searching on Poshmark as much as I look at Instagram. I guess I’m becoming addicted. It’s almost like going to a yard sale or kids consignment sale, you never know what you you are going to find!
I like to search for different items I’m looking for like, let’s say shorts. I like to look through the selections of my favorite brands or brands I’d like to wear. You can ‘like’ or ‘heart’ items and then access your ‘liked’ items in your profile and keep an eye on them. I also like to try and bundle. I got a great deal on a bundle of two flowy work out tanks that I can wear in the summer for working out or just hanging out around the house and a pair of comfy Danskin shorts.
They came wrapped in a cute little package. I love receiving fun mail as you can see! One of the things Poshmark recommends is packaging your sold items in a nice way because it’s fun to receive nice packages! I couldn’t agree more!
How to get started with Poshmark
First you will want to download the app and register go into your profile. Then to help you narrow down your search enter your sizes in your profile. Whenever I look at someone’s closet or do a search I ‘apply’ (in the filter) my sizes so that’s all I am looking at. Easy Peasy! If you find an item you like you can also search that seller’s closet to see what else they are selling that you might like. This is where the bundling comes in, you can get an offer for a bundle (more than one item that the seller has for sale). Here’s a tip: sellers are motivated to sell and when you like an item, more often than not they will send you a a private offer that you can accept if you like the price. This is what I mentioned earlier with the flats. The offer does expire within 24 hours or so. You can counter offer too. I’ve gotten all my items this way.
