Strawberry Pretzel Dessert

So you are asked to make a dessert for a Spring or Summer party and you ask yourself, what do you make? You are sick of making the same thing all the time but you want a crowd pleasing dessert. May I suggest, Strawberry Pretzel Dessert? This was a hit at my family Easter get together and I thought I would share it here on the blog. If you have not heard of this already it is a layered dessert. It consists of Strawberries (frozen or fresh), strawberry jello, cool whip, cream cheese and pretzels of course.

Here is the recipe:

  • 1 ½ cup crushed pretzels
  • 4½ TBSP white sugar
  • ¾ cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 8oz packages of cream cheese
  • 1 8oz container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 6oz package strawberry flavored gelatin
  • 2 cups boiled water
  • 1 16oz package of frozen or fresh strawberries- I prefer to use fresh and slice them. I’m all about presentation! 😀
  1. mix together crushed pretzels, 4½ TBSP sugar and melted butter.
  2. Press mixture into bottom of 9×13 baking pan.
  3. Bake for 10 min at 350º or until lightly toasted. Set aside to cool completely.
  4. In a medium bowl, beat 1 cup of white sugar and cream cheese until smooth.
  5. Fold in whipped topping. Spread evenly over cooled pretzel crust.
  6. Refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes.
  7. In a medium bowl, stir together the gelatin mixture and boiled water.
  8. Mix in strawberries and stir until thawed if using frozen strawberries.
  9. Pour over cream cheese mixture in pan.
  10. Refrigerate until completely chilled, at least 1 hour.

I usually let it refrigerate overnight and it is fine the next day.

I apologize for the smaller pictures. I did not get a picture before it was cut into.

Try this at your next gathering and let me know what you and your friends and family think!

I’m a wife to a realtor and a momma to 2 energetic boys, living in a bi-level home (some people call it a split level) and fixing it up to suit us. I love a good DIY and being creative. I am passionate about history and  visiting historical places like it’s my job- particularly Colonial time period. I love finding antiques/vintage and rustic items to add to my home decor, vacationing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and fantasizing about trips to Scotland. Read more
