Why I Ditched Selling My Kid’s Stuff At Yard Sales and On Facebook…

Amazing kids consignment sale results!!!!!

As of Saturday afternoon, I had sold 114/119 items! This is amazing! Last Fall, I participated in the same sale but did not closely track my sales like I did this time around. This was my first sale and  I had an experienced tagger tag my items and price them through the ‘Valet Tagger’ program that my particular Just Between Friends sale had offered. I wanted to get my ‘feet wet’ so to speak before I did my own tagging. I netted about $120 from the Fall/Winter sale!

This sale my prices ranged anywhere between $1.50-$20. The $20 was a rocking chair, $13 for an Infantino baby carrier and so forth. The clothing, I priced between $1.50-$4. This sale I sold clothing, hats, shoes, feeding utensils, blankets, a rocking chair (like I mentioned) and some infant/toddler toys. I am excited to see how much my check will be! I will get 60% less an $11 consigning fee. So keep in mind my sales in the Fall were less a consigning fee and valet tagging fee! The valet tagging works like this: you hang all your clothing and box everything else up and meet up with your tagger. She does all the rest of the work- pricing, tagging, packaging (if necessary) and delivering them to the sale for you! This is helpful for working moms and really busy moms!

I have mentioned this on Facebook and to my friends and family- I am not selling anymore kids items at a yard sale or on Facebook ever again. I make out so much better at the kids consignment sale. I would rather have items for sale in boxes in the corner of my basement twice a year and get a bigger paycheck! Just Between Friends has two sales a year in my area. Fall/Winter is usually in October and Spring/Summer is usually in April. You can price your items just like you would for a yard sale but for more! Some my items I had on Facebook- Foorrrevvverrr! It’s almost like you get more exposure at these sales in one fell swoop then you get on Facebook. I know, CRAZZZY! You usually price kids clothing at $.50-$1 at yard sales right? And alot of times they don’t sell like you think they would! You can price your items to reduce at the 50% off sale or leave it at full price. You also have the option of having them donated at the end of the sale, so you don’t have to pick up anything.

I know it seems daunting to price and tag and package all your times. Trust me, once you get into it, you get into a rhythm and you just ‘pound’ it all out. I suggest purchasing a tagging gun. I got this one on Amazon. I am use to using a tagging gun from my days working at a kids clothing store and Old Navy! This brought back memories for me! Ha, I know I am a nerd! But seriously, for a little work and the ability to tag your own items, why not try a consignment sale! And, unlike a yard sale, you don’t have to be there to deal with the customers and money!

I am ecstatic because all my big items sold and all of the feeding items that my kids have outgrown- baby spoons, baby suction plates, sippy cups, bibs, etc.

So if you are looking to recoup a lot of money from your kids items, I suggest a kids consignment sale! I picked Just Between Friends because it is very easy to participate and prepare for.

Hey there! I’m so glad you stopped by my blog!

I’m a wife to a realtor and a momma to 2 energetic boys, living in a bi-level home (some people call it a split level) and fixing it up to suit us. I love a good DIY and being creative. I am passionate about history and  visiting historical places like it’s my job- particularly Colonial time period. I love finding antiques/vintage and rustic items to add to my home decor, vacationing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and fantasizing about trips to Scotland. Read more

On this blog I share a lot of those things and more, so comment, share, subscribe and come along for the ride!
