Why We Tried Dry Farm Wines and Our Thoughts

Happy Friday!! Who is ready for the weekend? Well just in time for that, I have a review of our experience with Dry Farm Wines…

Setting the Stage

My interest in wine didn’t start until my husband and I were married. Back in 2007, we went on our first trip after our honeymoon, we stayed in Colonial Williamsburg and took a Williamsburg Winery tour. That was my first wine tasting as well. I fell in love with wine and after returning home, I started borrowing books and DVDs about wines from the library. Keep in mind, this was before Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. It was so interesting to me.

Fast forward to present- I started listening to the ‘Homemaker Chic Podcast’ and was introduced to ‘Dry Farm Wines’. Angela and Shaye (the hosts) talked to the founder of Dry Farm Wines. Boy, was it mind blowing and educational! I didn’t realize what all the commercial wine industry puts in our wines. I surely didn’t realize that there was food dye in some of them. Ever wonder where the purple lips come from?

I was so mind blown that I shared the episode with my husband. He came home from work after listening and asked, ‘When are we buying our first Dry Farm Wine shipment?’

Our First Shipment

We received four wines (the fourth one was free/a penny because they can’t legally offer it for free) the fourth one was a gift for purchasing our first box. That evening we tried our first glass. Again, it blew my mind. It was smooth! Normally, I have that ‘fizzy’ sensation in the back in my throat. I’m assuming its from the additives in the commercial wines. It goes down so smooth though. You see, their wines are low in sugar or sugar free. Their alcohol levels are 12.5 % or below. And the wines are from organic wineries. It was so pleasant!

Angela and Shaye ‘cautioned’ that once you try Dry Farm Wines that you WILL notice a difference if you go back to commercial wines. I had a bottle of my favorite winery on the East Coast still in our fridge and I definitely noticed a difference.

They are on the expensive side (to me, because I’m Miss Frugal) our box cost $88 & FREE shipping. But listen, we ordered 3 (got 4)  and will have them for a few weeks. Plus, they were delivered to our home. We didn’t have to go out for them. True, we didn’t select them, but you can select a white, rosé, or red wine box. If you happen to like one particular wine in your box, you can request it again!

Here’s a quote from their website…

We are proud to offer curated selections of our natural wines. We make it easy for anyone to order. Just choose 6 or 12 bottles of red, white, or half of each; we’ll take care of the rest.

We curate a unique assortment in each selection for you, and we love the chance to put together a beautiful spread of natural wines from different regions of the world, grapes, and styles.

By trying different bottles, you will be able to experience the terroir from each region as you develop a palate over time. Natural wines are unlike any other wine in the world. Even with grape varieties you traditionally are not fond of, you will be pleasantly surprised by how much better it tastes.

Of course, we’ll never make you pay for a wine you don’t LOVE. We’ll replace any wine you don’t like – no questions asked. It rarely happens, but just in case.

~Dry Farm Wines

As always, rosé and white wines are the best for the summer time. I chose rosé because it’s my favorite and right in the middle. My husband isn’t a huge white wine fan (which is fine with me because when I buy my white sangrias I have the bottle to myself! As I get older, my palate has really changed. I like reds more. I don’t know that I particularly like dry reds but I can definitely enjoy reds a lot more. If we do continue with our subscription, I think I will switch our subscription to reds for the Fall and Winter. It’s that easy. You don’t need to stick with your same category.
